CLass 127 Slam Poetry - open

Slam poetry is a form of performance poetry, including rap, combining the elements of performance, writing, competition and audience participation.

Poems can be about any subject but must be the original work of the performer. No props may be used when performing the poem. No musical accompaniment or musical instruments may be used when performing, but the poet is allowed to sing, clap, hum, or make noise with the mouth or other body parts. Poets may perform on their own or in groups but the entry is classified as one performance. Composition and performance are considered holistically by the adjudicator: poems need not be submitted in advance of the class. A copy of the text will need to be provided for the adjudicator on the day. Extracts must be completed within the maximum time allowed including any introduction. You may not perform the same piece in more than one class in the festival. If the piece is not identified or it does not conform with the class rules then the performer may perform in the class and will receive verbal and written feedback but will not be placed first, second or third in the class.
